If you didn’t get chance to do some decorating over the Easter weekend we now have another bank holiday upon us. Get your paint brushes ready and begin some home improvement projects. Whether you would like to redecorate the whole house or just a single room we have put together a few tips to help.
The recent spell of sunshine may have highlighted the imperfections in your home, but for me it has made me want to add some colour. Pastel colours are Vogue at the moment; try seasonal colours including off-white, green, pale blue or pink. If you are slightly more outlandish and really want to make a statement, try a vibrant purple or an uplifting yellow.
Feature walls are a simple and effective way to produce impact to a room. The focal point should be on a prominent wall, go for a bold design and complement the wall with a neutral finish.
Lighting is a great way to update your home. The industrial look in lighting is currently very trendy and will create a cool look. Again it creates a simple feature to the room and adds new dimensions. If you get chance have a look in antique auctions as they do crop-up, you may find the price tag slightly high as they are on-trend. If they are out of budget, many of the high-street chains do have some really nice reproduced pieces.
Accent pieces have always been a great way to add design to a room. An emerging trend is for small items of furniture to be upholstered in a modern print or weaves. Use a dynamic fabric colour and contrast with a neutral wall behind, it will create a wonderful effect.
